Avg driver updater stuck on requesting windows updates

Hello Joanne,
We regret for the inconvenience caused to you. Could you try to check for windows updates manually and then try to run a Driver updater scan?

Lately when AVG Driver Updater scans for updates it gets as far as "Requesting Windows Updates" and hangs there.  I've left it overnight and that made no difference.  It's still stuck there.

I am having the same problem, how do you check for windows updates manually? Also when you stop the scan does this mean it has not updated it? I use several AVG products, but I am not happy with this.
