I understand the inconvenience.
Please provide the (screenshot) of AVG Driver updater window that shows Windows operating system information to assist further.

I have just installed AVG Driver Updater and its reporting my system as being Windows 8 pro when it is Windows 10 pro

Alan, thank you for providing the screenshot. Please uninstall the Driver update from the Control panel - program list and reinstall it.
