When I try and download it, I am getting an "unsafe" message from Windows Defender SmartScreen.

The setup file of Driver Updater from our website is legitimate.
As this isn't usual, would you be so kind to share us the screenshot of the message from Windows Defender to investigate further on it?
Meanwhile, if you get an option to 'Run Anyway' in the message, you can click on it & proceed to install (if you prefer).
