I have this same problem as well. I don't disable the shield but I did disable the notification and the same popups still show up on the screen. any information would be greatly appreciated.

How do I disable the Email Threat Alert pop ups?   I have heard that there is a silent mode for AVG but can't find it. Is it only available on PC version? I'm perfectly happy with my email's being checked but I don't need pop ups for every one that is a threat unless I check.

Rob, it is not recommended to disable the Email shield that may lead your PC vulnerable. If you're getting the AVG threat pop-up often, when you receive a spam email from a specific email sender, then please block the sender address and mark as spam on your account and check the status.
