For better clarity, please share us the screenshot of the message that you receive, with Email shield enabled.
Also, let us know whether you've restarted the computer once, after the AVG program update. If not, please restart once, to allow the patches to be applied to the program.
Hello, I've got absolutely the same issue: upgade to the latest AVG corrupts email SSL-secured send-reeceive.
AVG Email Shield is blocking email downloads from Gmail with an error code0x800CCCC1A. If I turn off AVG email shield I can download emails from Gmail. I have uninstalled and re-installed AVG free. The problem continues. This issue started today after a recent AVG automatic update. AVG version is 22.8.3250. Does anyone have a solution to this issue please?

I found one stting for the SMTP secure port to be incorrect. It was set to 465. I changed it to 587 which I believe to be the correct setting, but this did not resolve the issue with my emails being blocked by the AVG email scanner.
