I am having the same issue Alan originally desribed. Unfortunately, the answer provided appears to be completely off target. The OP was guided to turn off email scanning!! Uhm, that wasn't the goal. The goal was simply to stop the AVG signatrue from being added to emails under Thunderbird!
Further, the path described above to get to settings appears to be completely wrong and not applicable to the latest version of AntiVirus (and by latest, I mean the version which exists April 4, only five days after the guidance was given).
Please provoide a more accurate answer - one that address the desire of just stopping the signature from appearing rather than totally turning off emial scanning.

I have un-checked the "enable AVG email signature" but it still appears at the bottom of my emails. I use Thunderbird for email. How do I stop this?

Larry, Go into AVG 'Advanced Settings' -> Email Protection -> Email Scanner -> Certification & ensure that it's disabled.

Thanks. I turned off "scan inbound" and "scan outbound" and that seemed to work.
