AVG Enhanced Firewall stops me accessing SQL Server on my computer

Hello Kevin,

We will investigate and proceed further in fixing this.
Could you check whether "network profile" of AVG Firewall is set to "Private"?
Open AVG Internet Security interface.
Click on "Menu–>Settings–>Components–>Customize" of Enhanced Firewall.
Select "Network Profiles" and see whether the network connection shows as "Private".
If it shows as public, click and change it to "private".
Keep us informed about the status.

I have the same problem, and just by switching the network connection to Private fix the problem, excellent!

I have SQL Server installed on my Notebook for development purposes.

I now need to disable the AVG Enhanced Firewall to be able to access SQL Server either via SQL Server Management Studio or via ODBC.  I am NOT trying to access anything outside my Notebook so don't understand why the firewall is even involved.

I have changed the network connection to Private and that seems to have fixed the problem - thanks.
