Hello Bob,
We will help you with this.
Could you confirm whether you're using AVG AntiVirus free version (consumer product) or AVG AntiVirus Business version?
I installed Hacker Attacks protection (Firewall) and now the other computer on my home network cannot see this computer. I have to turn the Firewall off temporarily to transfer files. I went into help and saw that I should mark my local network Private. The only network listed is the external network to my ISP. No trace of my local network can be found. What do I have to do to get this to work properly?
Thanks.
Bob

I answered this question (I am using Business version) but now the answer seems to have gotten lost?!?
Business version. It's on my XP machine. My other machine is a W7 laptop which has the regular MS security installed. However this problem only started when I installed Hacker protection. The two machines are connected to a NetGear 4-port router. The WAN end of the NetGear router goes into the cable modem (Spectrum Cable). I'm not running any servers on either machine.
Incidentally, I wanted to add a "Friend" network – it said "Click the 'Add' button" but there is no Add button on that page. It didn't really matter as there's a built-in IP range (192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255) that covers (or should cover) my little network.
Thanks,
Bob
