AVG Firewall blocking printer/scanner access

I have the same problem.  And yes, when I disable Enhance Firewall protection, my printer shows up again as online (after closing the app I am trying to print from and restarting it).

Hello Rob,
We're glad to help you.
Could you please be more specific about the exact settings that you're referring to?
Are you referring to the AVG AntiVirus FREE/ AVG Internet Security setting to back and restore the previously saved settings?
If yes, the loaded setting in the AVG AntiVirus FREE can be easily backed up and restored in Menu> Settings> Troubleshooting -> BackUp or Restore settings.

Hello Erin,

We're here to help.
Go to AVG >> Menu >> Settings >> Full Protection >> System Rules.
In that list, enable the ''Allow windows file and printer sharing" and click continue.
Refer  to this article for the same: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Antivirus-Enhanced-Firewall-System-Rules
Check if you can use the printer and scanner now.

there are 2 KB  update for windows 10  should fix the problem

You say togo to: Menu >> Settings >> Full Protection >> System Rules, but that is not in my AVG menu. Otherwise I have the same problem: I have a short cut to my printer/scanner which worked fine as long as I used the free version of AVG, but when I shifted and paid for your fine protection it doesn't worki anymore.
The app is among the allowed in settings.

I added the premium AVG a couple months back.  I had zero issues with my printer and scanner until Windows 10 did an update roughly a week ago, and now my AVG firewall is blocking access to my printer/scanner.  I have tried everything under the sun to fix this, but I CANNOT print or scan anything to my computer.  I can print and scan to all other devices.  However, I need my printer and scanner for work, and absolutely need it to work with my PC.

How do I fix this, and how do I ensure this doesn't happen again?

This is already enabled.  It doesn't work.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Peter,

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Please write back to us in your own/new post, so that we can locate your account, obtain further details and help you accordingly.
Thank you for understanding in advance!

@Peter - the only way I was able to print again was by getting rid of the paid version of AVG and going back to the free version.  None of the "solutions" provided either by AVG, or elsewhere, fixed the issue.

Erin, are you sure that the printer/scanner works when AVG Firewall is disabled?
Could you please refer this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Disable-AVG-Antivirus) and disable AVG Firewall and confirm the status once?
