3 or 4 days ago, there was an AVG update that installed on multiple home computers. It worked fine on those systems running Windows 7. On the one system running Windows 8.1, I encountered a major issue: internet access was not available, however, home group resources were visible and accessable. Multiple things tried, endless research, and then the epiphany: check firewall options. There were no options in general or expert mode that suggested a change from the default settings. I finally made the decision to disable AVG firewall and revert to Windows firewall. As soon as I did, internet access was again available. Was this an isolated incident, or has there been other reports of a similar issue?
