That’s disappointing but don’t worry. I will take you through alternative ways to do that.

http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
to download and run the AVG Remover tool.
Please select the AVG products which are shown in the remover tool window and then start removal process.
After the remover tool process is successfully finished, restart your pc.
After the restart, manually delete the AVG Remover folder in the C drive of Mycomputer.
Now, reinstall your AVG Internet Security and you will be good to go.

I have been a loyal AVG user for many years and up-graded to Ultimate 6 months ago. So, this morning I go to my computer and cannot get Internet access. Why? Because the AVG firewall is blocking ALL Internet traffic to my machine. Other machines on the network are not affected (they have access). I can change the Firewall settings, but the block occurs on all settings except when disabled. Why?
