Recently installed AVG for Business Antivirus and have had performance issues since. Yesterday AVG indicated it need to update and following a completed update download , indicated that a restart was necessary. Things have been wonky since. The server shut itself down this am . did a reboot.with windows running  minutes later AVG indicated a restart was necessary. However on reboot, Windows partially loads then crashes . Consistently. ! . Tried loading AVG rescue cd however it indicated a volume wasn't present. rebooted using HD and again windows partially loaded then crashed. Tried safe mode etc etc. Relocated HD ( corsair ssd )  to another PC as a slave and got an error message when trying to explore.
So . loaded win 2003 Server install on a formatted spare drive. and got it up and running, …reinserted apparently originally corrupted hd as a spare. BIOS recognized it however, with new version of windows running on new hd ., original disc ( now a slave) could not be read. ( damaged or corrupted message posted) … how can the HD partially boot up windows when used as master but can't be read as slave.
Long an short of it , are there HD diagnostic / repair tools I can use to sort this out . Is it a coincidence that my corsair SSD has died unrelated to the AVG install.
