We are experiencing the same problem with AVG Ultimate on the Macbook Air. When will we expect the update to fix this bug?
It’s the entire computer that crashes. Yesterday I ran the scan at 9 am, after I posted here, I then headed out for the day and left the software running. I got home at 8:30 pm and found the Thai computer had crashed at 99% with 4 found virus’ again, and the time on the clock said 5:30. So it had taken 8 and a half hours for the scan to get that far before crashing the computer. Even the clock was frozen. Everything. I took a photo of th screen with my iPad. I couldn’t obviously do a screenshot. I’ll see if I can post the photo
Derek,
I see that the previous posts have been edited and you mentioned that the System Crashed.
Could you please confirm once if you meant a System Crash or a Scan Crash?
Also, please provide me a screenshot where Moone says that there are 4 threats.
To take a screenshot in MAC, please follow the below instructions :
1. To capture the entire screen, press Command-Shift-3. The screen shot will be automatically saved as a PNG file on your desktop with the filename starting with Picture followed by a number, example Picture 1, Picture 2, and so on.
2. To copy the entire screen, press Command-Control-Shift-3. The screen shot will be placed on your clipboard for you to paste into another program like PowerPoint, Word, Photoshop, etc.
For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on Answer & then click on the Image [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Just to give AVG an update, the scan now reaches 100% which is great, but then crashes. I've attached a screen grab fif you need to look into this further. Have a great xmas!

Hi. It’s several months later. I am having the same issue described above using AVG 18.6 on MacOS 10.11.16
I’ve never been able to get a deep scan to successfully complete with this software. Any progress on a solution?
Hi Blane,
I appreciate your efforts. We need to collect log files required for escalation.
I have sent you an email requesting the log files, please check and revert us with the required info.
In the mean time, you can alternatively try with Avast for Mac.
Hi Balasubramanian,
Sadly after installing the AVG 17.2 update today, the problem is still evident and AVG crashes at 99% of the scan. Please see the following screen grab for your further investigation. It might be a good idea for AVG to make new prospective Mac customers aware that the software has this on-going issue prior to downloading and running AVG. It would avoid a lot of disappointment and I'm sure new users would really appreciate the 'heads-up' until this issue is resolved. Thank again.

Hi Karthikeyan, is there any further news since my last logs were escalated to the senior team on 29th June? I can see from other mac users, its still an on-going issue for AVG. Kind regards, Rob
I'm having the exact same problem on a 2013 iMac running OS 10.12.6 with AVG Antivirus Version 17.2. It gets to around 85-95% and "unexpectatly quit" message comes up. Before that I see "5 threats so far" and I have no idea what those threats are! I did follow the instructions to uninstall and then reinstall to no avail.
Derek,
I can understand your frustration, let’s try to fix it together.
I see that you are using a very old version of AVG Anti Virus for Mac.
The latest version of AVG Antivirus is 17.4. Please update and check if the issue still persists.
I feel your pain Derek. I've tried to help AVG over some months now, especially when I could see other mac users had raised the same issue before me. I guess you have to remember that AVG for mac is free and while it's a shame this it's still creating problems, when it does work, I prefer it to other virus protection offered by the competition. I like yourself run a business and this has really frustrated me, but not to the extent is has yourself, so I wouldn't blame you for choosing a replacement! Hope you get things sorted. All the best.

Hi all
AVG for mac has worked perfectly for years until the last couple of months, where it crashes at 99% of the scan. Having visited the AVG forum numerous times, I can see I'm not the only mac user to experience the same issue. I've tried clearing the browser cache, uninstalled and reinstalled AVG numerous times etc, but the issue is still there. AVG is picking up on 18 files that need attention and I wish I could move them to quarantine, but it crashes before I can do this. With AVG uninstalled, I have tried other market products to scan the mac without issue and curiously they aren't finding any files that require attention? I'm running OSX 10.9.5 on iMac. Any further help or advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue. Unfortunately, there is no expected time for the update to release. Please keep checking for new updates from your AVG app.
