The program said there were 12 threats, but only 9 on the list. I have already tried "Protect all Files " button but only 1 could be deleted. I then opened quarantine and deleted each of the remaining 8! (Before receiving the above instruction) I rebooted my mac and ran AVG scan again. I'm not sure exactly how long its been running, I think about 30 minutes. Its at 70% of files with no threats found yet. Last time it took 4 or 5 hours to go from 99% to finished.
Hello Matt,
I understand your concern. To assist you better, please send us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the AVG quarantine folder with the detected file, so we can check the same and assist you further.
I cannot identify locations until current scan is completed. It is currently on 71% with no threats identified. It was on 70% at my last post! Incidentally one of the previous scans scanned approx 1.3 to 1.4 million files, and another over 3 million!
I am just a casual computer user, not for business or anything, I'be about 8500 songs on itunes, no books and say 3k photos!
This is my 4th scan since I first downloaded AVG. I am hopeful this scan will be clear. I will follow your advice on completion but I am really sceptical as to AVG's value! I may keep it while I try to find a more dependable solution.
2 hours and 20 min later, the scan is now 90% complete with no threats yet, fingers crossed!
Does your free AVG quarantine and delete process do anything? Repeat application of the scan, followed by delete in the quarantine section, seems to identify the same threats over and over!
Matt,
We are glad to know that the AVG scan got completed successfully.
I appreciate your patience and efforts in this matter.
Feel free to contact us if you need any assistance with AVG.
Have a nice day!

I set another scan at 3.25pm yesterday afternoon. It is now 3.21pm and it has just finished. 24 hours! Is that reasonable to you?
12 threats found. I have not opened any suspicious emails or clicked any links in that 24 hours. I have deleted every threat identified and quarantined on the previous scans. I'm beginning to think that the scan is a waste of time, and the threats are scare tactics.

3 hours later and it as still on 99% complete. I let it run overnight, and surprised to see zero threats when complete. Success! I will not be running the scan often because of the time it takes, but it seems to have done the job.
Hello Matt,
Thank you for providing screenshot, I understand the inconvenience caused, let's work together to fix this issue. AVG scan should not take much time to complete. In this case, I request you to remove the threat manually by going to the exact threat location (you can right click on the AVG scan result files one by one to find the exact location of the file). Once you delete all the threat, I request you to run the AVG scan again (also check the time taken by the AVG scan) and check if AVG still detect those files. The issue might be because of some files are getting regenerated automatically so if you delete them manually the issue will get fixed.
Best regards,
Alok.
