AVG Free 2015 big change from AVG Free ver.9.0.935...Help!

Hello Geoff.
While verifying it seems that it wasn't successful update and that's the reason the update was removed :  http://www.infoworld.com/article/2977466/microsoft-windows/windows-patch-ms15-084-kb-3076895-breaks-programs.html

Alan, regarding the failed and cancelled updates, I have trawled through the list of installed updates and found later successes for the cancelled one and one of the two failed ones.
The only failure remaining is KB 3076895.
kavremover utility seems to have found odd reg keys and other leftovers and orphans from the attempted un-install, and I recon it has got stuck on the screen that says:-
"Configuring Windows Features 100% complete do not turn off your computer".
This has been known to stay like that for several hours,…is that because of Kaspersky?

Hello Geoff. I would like to let you know that it is not recommended to run two antivirus products simultaneously. So, I request you to uninstall the Kaspersky antivirus completely from your laptop and then install fresh copy of AVG in your system. Also, I would like to let you know that there is no account which exists under your email address. Thank you.

Just thought I would update you on my progress, downloaded the failed KB3076895 and when attempting to install, it tells me that this update is not for my computer!
Strange, but at least, it now ticks the box for being "Up to Date".

Geoff, Also have a look @ this article (http://avgclick.me/prepareforAVGinstall). To totally remove Kaspersky have a look @ this webpage (http://support.kaspersky.co.uk/common/service). AVG Community… This is now the only active type AVG forum which exists & since you are posting you have full access.

Hello Alan, am I right in thinking you were "Big Al 65" back in the day?
I think I recall the Avatar.
Just stepped through the preparation page:
1) Laptop exceeds all system requirements.
2) The laptop hasn't been used since May so I have just installed (or attempted to install) 53 updates.
Two failed (KB3076895 and KB3045685) one is marked as "Cancelled" (KB3023217) …not a clue what that means!
3) As stated, the "expired" Kasperkey trial was still present when AVG was installed but TAsk Manager recorded no CPU or Memory useage. It was inactive, presumably awaiting my credit card details to spring into expensive life!
4) The Laptop had been running only 2 or 3 minutes before I downloaded and Ran the install file for AVG 2015.0.6140
5) I am running as Admin.
6) The installation I'm running is AVG 2015.0.6140 I was worried that I was unprotected and exposed, so just googled AVG Free and clicked the download link, …I think it took me to "cnet", which I felt was "legit".

Is there any help you can give me Alan regarding the two failed updates and the strange "cancelled" one?
I'm really struggling with this machine as I have not used Win 8 before and I'm used to Vista on my Desktop machine.
Any advice you caould give me would be a great help.

Thanks for the Kasperskey link, I have un-installed it via "All Programs", but noticed that there were still two "tiles" remaining on the Metro interface, after some messing, I seem to have managed to get rid of them and can't find any trace of the software.
I will however download and run the "kavremover utility", just to be certain!

Finally, I'm not sure how I managed to successfully find my way here, and hope that I can in the future despite the request at the top right saying "Log in".
I have added this page to my "favorites" to be sure, but in case I cant find it on the laptop (I'm using my Vista PC at present)
Can you tell me how to get here!
Hope you are "Big Al 65", it's a name I feel I can trust, sorry if I'm a nuiscence, and thanks!
