AVG Free Antivirus - DO NOT INSTALL

As I said ---- DO NOT INSTALL AVG

MAJOR MAJOR PROBLEMS

The only reason I was reinstalling Office XP (2002) was an attempt to make Office product work again.  All Office XP (2002) worked fine before installing AVG… That was/is the problem.

Uninstalling   (WebAdvisor by McAfee and SUPERAntiSpyware) did not solve the problem created by AVG.

If you wish to continue using microsoft Office products DO NOT INSTALL AVG

Hello Robert,

Thank you for reaching out, and I sincerely apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

My name is Jovana, and I work with AVG Support. I understand your experience with our support may not have met your expectations, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this caused. However, my colleague Adam is correct - our technical support is available only for our paid customers, while free users can access solutions via our support page and forums.

Nonetheless, your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I will certainly share it with the team.

Additionally, I looked into your issue and noticed that you're trying to install Office XP (2002) on a Windows 11 device. Based on available information, this version of Office is not compatible with Windows 11 due to its quite older version.

Furthermore, I noticed that besides AVG, you also have two other security software programs (WebAdvisor by McAfee and SUPERAntiSpyware), which can conflict with AVG and cause performance issues.

I recommend upgrading to a newer version of the Office suite and choosing a single antivirus solution, removing the others to avoid conflicts.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hello Robert,

Thank you for reaching AVG support team. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and we can really understand your frustration. We do provide remote support only for paid users. As we already followed all the basic troubleshooting steps in your previous case and still unable to find the cause, we offered remote support to you.

On checking your ticket with remote support team, you are still having issue with Microsoft office programs even though AVG Anti-virus removed from your device. This confirm that AVG Anti-virus does not block the access Microsoft office programs. So, kindly contact Microsoft support in order to resolve the issue with Office program. Hope you understand our limitations.

If you still have any clarification, please do let us know. Thank you for the understanding.

I downloaded and installed AVG free Antivirus thinking it would be a great free product to protect my computer with.  Boy was I wrong.

After installing AVG, none of Microsoft Office products, i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint will work.  Microsoft files will open and but then they close after about 5 seconds.  You can not access the file when it opens.

I researched HOME SUPPORT  which you are now viewing and found numerous post - addressing this issue - but no comments about the isue ever being resolved. Sounds like an ongoing problem.

I reached out to AVG support for help in solving the problem caused by the installation of AVG. They suggested and assisted with possible fixes (things I had already tired) to no avail.  They finally said it must be a microsoft problem - WHAT.  It was not a problem before AVG so suddenly it is someone elses problem - NOT AVG.  Another support staff member - at last escalated the issue to senior staff for resolution.

Here is the Senior Customer Care team response to my problem caused by installing AVG…

I'm Adam from the AVG Senior Customer Care team and I see that you're having issues with using our AVG Free AntiVirus software, with opening your Microsoft Office programs.

Please be aware that since you don't have a subscription with us, we are not in a position to help you with this, or any problem for that matter, and our focus is on our paying customers. I apologize if my colleague set expectations by escalating this case wrongfully.

You can always check our public knowledge base for information on how to troubleshoot our products here: Official AVG Support | Search

Kind regards,

So be aware that AVG may make programs on your computer TO NO LONGER WORK… and it is not an AVG problem…

MY QUESTION IS - HOW DO I GET AVG TO FREELY ADDRESS AND SOLVE MY PROBLEM - IT WAS THE FREE VERSION THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH…IS THIS A SCAM TO GET YOUR BUSINESS?

YOU DECIDE
