Is this the same antivirus as avast. It seems as though it is??? Still can't delete the leftovers. Seems to be connected to avast in some way. it's a conundrum. could you answer this? I noticed the (Avast) after the assists that have been given. Thanks for your assistance. Gary
I'm New to mac. Got rid of microsoft. I feel a bit stupid here, DUH! When you say, /Library/Application Support/…is that found in finder? Because that is what starts up in my macbook air. Would you be a bit more specfic? Do I need to use Terminal or what? I know I sound silly but I was so used to Microsoft and this is a bit bewildering. I'm getting better with Mac, however it is a slow process for me. Thanks for your patience and replies. Gary

I removed the antivirus program from my Mac, however there are several files leftover and they cannot be removed. I get an answer that the files are damage or missing. It may be the directory where it was downloaded to. Can someone assist me with gettin rid of these file and directory?
found the folder but i can't delete it. curious.
Yes Gary, AVG is owned by AVAST. You may experience similar User interface for these programs but they are completely different ventures.
Regarding the leftovers, please follow the steps and try to delete the file again:
Go > Mcintosh…-/Library/Application Support/- Locate and delete AVG Antivirus and AVG HUB folder
Keep us posted.
Thank you for your understanding, Gary. For further queries, feel free to write back to us. Have a great day. Stay safe!

Let us know, if you need further help.
Yes, you may need to navigate to the Library through finder option, Gary.
Since, you've mentioned that the leftover is a small file & also Avast has been replaced successfully, it seems that the file has no impact over other files.

Hi Gary,
We're glad to help you with the info.
All the apps can't be uninstalled completely by dragging a file to the trash.
However, as you've already removed AVG, you can try the below steps to remove the leftovers :
Open Finder - In menubar select Go > Go to Folder…- Type /Library/Application Support/ and hit the enter key - Locate and delete AVGAntivirus folder - Reboot computer and AVG should be removed

I hope I did this right, My mac says I don't have permission to delete the folder even though i'm administrator. says it is damaged.
