Solved this myself by going here | AVG (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?q=avg+remover+tool&urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG&l=en_US" target="_blank) and running this removal tool. The other one doesn't work for AVG Protection.
I get no active components, then the reinstall advice doesn't work.
