AVG Free Edition cause slow movie

Hi,
After the latest update of AVG Antivirus Free I have notice that it is almost impossible to view movies from the net on Microsoft Vista clients (SP2), example from youtube. It is so slow that it is almost impossible to view anything.


The version of AVG is: 17.5.3021 (virus definition 170709-0; 6,110,378)
Browser: Chrome Version 49.0.2623.112 m (latest version that is supported for Vista). I have tried it with Safari on another Vista client and it seems to be the same symptom, but that that was a very old machine and slow in itself.


If I temporary stop Online Shield in Settings/Components it works find. It did not work to only uncheck “Use intelligent stream scanning”. For Youtube it also works to uncheck “Enable HTTPS scanning” , but that was expected when youtube is using https.


Is this a known error or just in my vista-configurations? Is it the same for other OS or just Vista? else it is sad to say; but it seems like AVG Free Edition no longer is useful for old vista client, when I have not found any workaround that keep some streaming protection on.

Hello Magnus,
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. Please uninstall and reinstall only online shield component in AVG Free Antivirus by going to AVG->Antivirus->Menu->Settings->Component->click on down arrow next to 'Online shield'->Click on 'Uninstall component'. Then reinstall it and check if it works.
