AVG Free Edition has deleted itself and will not allow repair

You can use this link to download and run the AVG remover tool http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe

Note: Once the removal of AVG is complete and the computer is restarted, go to C Drive and delete the AVG remover folder. After which you can reinstall AVG Free from this link http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Protection_Free_1606.exe.

The free edition seems to have deactivated itself without any notification.

I noticed that lots of my files have gone missing.  I could not longer access Chrome or my Office 365 so I checked AVG to see if there were any reports of viruses or malware and found it was no longer active.  

It is not allowing me to repair or to reinstall unless I pay for help??

Can somebody help with this please.  I need my pc to be protected and also to remove threats that i have on here since it deactivated itself.  Not sure if there is any way to retrieve al the lost files?
