AVG Free has worked fine on my Windows 10 64 bit desktop for 12 months until recently.  Now every time there is an automatic upgrade it starts a scan which then locks up at 1% completed.  The only way to stop this is to uninstall AVG Free (often the Removal Tool is necessary) and re-install.  I cannot find any similar problem reports and AVG do not seem to be able to help.  Has anyone any idea what the problem might be and how to stop it please?
