We really appreciate your valuable efforts which you have taken to fix it. We would request you to confirm whether you have tried to repair the AVG Program and check for the icon in system tray, if the issue is still persist We would request you to remove previously installed program traces of (AVG 2015 or AVG 2014)from your system using AVG Remover tool and then try to reinstall AVG Protection free.
Note: If you have installed any other conflicting programs like AVAST, NORTON, McAfee or KASPERSKY try to uninstall it.
Once you have uninstalled from your system,try to follow the steps which mentioned below.
Remover and Download:
1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.

I have just paid for and Installed AVG Tune Up but only the Tune up Icon appears in bottom right hand of screen. Why has the Icon for AVG Free disappeared??. I found the Icon reassuring that I was protected by AVG. It also highlighted the fact that I recently lost my Identity Protection.
Hi, might sound egg sucky - but have checked hidden icons? sometimes they revert to 'hide icon' … If Windows10 it is in control panel,Taskbar & Navigation and scroll down to notifcation area…
Just a thought… but AVG seems quite screwed up generally these days
