AVG Free interferes with Newsbin downloading headers

Patrick,
We understand your concern, we apologize for the difficulties. Could you provide us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the error message you are getting while trying to download headers? We request you to disable AVG by each components http://avgclick.me/TempDisableAVG separately and check which feature is blocking your downloads. Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.  The version of AVG(free) I have does not have the right-click menu like shown.  The menu only has disable on it.  If I disable it, I don't get the error message.  So I need to know how to get AVG not to scan newsgroup headers as I download them.  If there is no way to do that, much to my displeasure I will have to find a different antivirus.  It is odd because on my other computer AVG never did this.

When downloading headers from a newsgroup I will get an error about compressed headers(or something like that) and it stops.  From my searches it seems to be a virus scanning issue.  If I disable AVG everything goes fine.  I have tried to add the Newsbin folder and executable to the exclude list but it does not seem to be working.  I am using the latest build as far as I know - build number 1.161.2.61210.

Anyone have any suggestions?  I really don't want to have to disable AVG every time I download headers.

Thanks,

Patrick

Patrick, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

I tried the repair and it completely hosed my system.  The system would not boot afterwards and I had to do a system repair.  I also did a fresh install of windows and AVG and it still did not work.  And a repair of AVG once again screwed up my system.
