Avg free is no longer working

We would like to appreciate your efforts to reinstall AVG and glad to hear it is active now. Please share a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the error message you are seeing on the task bar to assist you better. You could also try to run repair installation once as suggested by Alok.

yesterday I had a message from avg to restart my computer.  when it restarted my avg free was no longer protecting my pc and the logo on the task bar comes up with 'error'.  can you please advise me

Jill, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
