AVG Free is refusing to reinstall

Hello Ken,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

This error 0xC0070643 is a known one and we request you to run our AVG remover tool and remove the Zen program and then to install AVG free antivirus without zen we have to use our offline installer link.

  • I've ben running AVG Free for years with no problem.
  • Earlier this year I accepted some kind of an upgrade product that AVG offered for one month free.
  • When the month was up I kept getting notifications that my month was up, and go here to get it permanently.  There was no option to say I didn't want it permanently.
  • Eventually, fed up with this notification, I uninstalled AVG completely, and tried to reinstall AVG Free.  It failed.
  • It seems to be the Zen part of the installation.  What is Zen, why do I need it, and why is it being so problematic?
  • I get an error code of 0xc0070643 from both the Zen failure notification and the general AVG Setup notification.
  • To further complicate the issue, both times I've tried to reinstall, my Windows Explorer has crashed - won't open when I select it.  What gives, somebody?

You are most welcome Ken.
Sorry it was my mistake for not mentioning about the scanning steps to fix the windows explorer issue.
I really appreciate your efforts in performing the scan of your PC using AVG and glad to know that your issue got fixed.
Thank you for posting back and letting us know about this.
Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.
Have a great day!!!

Excellent, Balasubramanian.  This seems to have done the trick.  Took me a couple of goes but it worked, I've been able to do a full scan, and the Windows Explorer problem - which you didn't mention - seems to have cleared itself as well.  Miraculous!  Thanks.
