AVG free - lost your protection message

I understand that you are receiving message that you have lost your protection. This pop up might occur if the Trial version has expired. You are mentioning that you have installed AVG FREE. This pop up wont occur in AVG FREE. Please provide us a screenshot of your AVG FREE interface so that we can check for the actual issue (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot). I installed the version that you linked as the free version, not a trial, and I still get a pop up saying I've lost my pro protection. The previous one came from the link for the free, not trial, version also. I did not install a trial version.

On both Win 7 & 10, I'm using AVG free, I am positive I have installed (and removed and checked that I reinstalled) the free version and not the trial. But I still get pop ups saying you have lost your protection. Should that happen? If so, ok, but from my searching it seems that is not the pop up you should get with the free version.

  1. Once uninstalled download the installation file using the link : http://www.avg.com/download to reinstall your AVG program.
    5. Run the downloaded file to start the installation process.
    6. Follow the instructions on your screen.  
    7. Complete the installation and restart your computer.
