Can't I just download the AVG Ultimate installation file somewhere?

We can help you with this.
Yes, our new downloads website is Install AVG on your PC, Mac | AVG installation files and you wil be redirected to this page even when you enter "www.avg.com/downloads".
Restart your PC and open AVG Antivirus free interface.
Click on "My AVG–>My Subscriptions" and click on "Log Out".
Click on "Log In" and enter your AVG my account (*****@gmail.com) credentials.
Wait for 2-3 minutes to check whether it activates to Internet Security.
Keep us informed about the status.

Hi

I formatted my PC and wanted to install AVG Ultimate, I usually go to this site and download the "paid version" setup. Now it seems that the site has been updated and I could not find that setup file again. So I decided to download the free version of AVG hoping that it will upgrade to the full version as soon as I login with my account. I tried that and unfortunately after I signed in, it does not upgrade to the full version, it instead stays on the free version. I tried signing out and in again and restarting, but it did not work.

Please help

Sorry to hear that the issue persists, Rob. 

AVG Ultimate will get installed only if previous traces and other antivirus was removed on your device completely. 

Refer the below article to run AVG Clear and remover tool:
