AVG Free not working after update - unable to uninstall

Hello Gary,
We are sorry to hear that you are unable to uninstall AVG Protection from your computer. You can follow the below steps to uninstall AVG from your computer
Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe . This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compability)
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer"
(1/2)

This morning my AVG Free did an update and offered me a free trial - which I declined.

It then said my Free Trial had expired (!!!) and stopped working - I was unable to open UI

Decided to uninstall and reinstall - tried to uninstall (AVG Protection 17.3.3011) from within Programs & Features in Control Panel - just gives Unexpected Error. Error Code: 0xe0010002

Downloaded and ran AVG Uninstaller - first time it did something and some AVG components and processes removed, but still some there (AVG Protection 17.3.3011 still in Programs and Features;  AVGSvc.exe *32 and AVGUI.exe *32 process still running

Ran uninstaller a second time - says there are no AVG components installed (!!! there obviously still are).

Uninstaller gives an option to Run Anyway, but just sits with eggtimer running and does nothing.

Help!

Thank you - that just about fixed it.

Also had to run another 3rd party tool to clean up the registry properly as a few AVG remnants still remained.

Also had manually delete a few remnants in prog files and prog data that were left behind (but these could have been from older versions of AVG)

Now ok, but really don't like the new 2017 - have run scans but can't find where to review the scans. New UI very unintuitive

Hi Gary, I apologize for the inconvenience caused due to this new version, No worries We will work on the new version of AVG as per your suggestion.
Thank you.
