I have used AVG for many years. 5 years on this windows 7 PC.
On 10/4/19 my PC quit working. Using restore to 10/2 it worked
again. I turned off microsoft updates. But By 10/11 it was not working
again and restore only went back to 10/5. I saw avg was dated 10/4,
uninstalled it and the PC worked. On 10/18 I reinstalled AVG and
on 10/19 the same problem, uninstalled AVG and the PC works.
I get a configuring windows screen, then a blue screen counting down
some sort of dump, a couple seconds, then a click in the tower and the
safe mode prompt.

What exactly happened on 4th Oct 2019 when was the first time you performed a PC restore? If you have any other antivirus or anti malware software installed on your PC, please uninstall it. Using more than one antivirus program simultaneously is one of the most common reasons for a blue screen error.
