Hello Joe.
We'd be glad to assist you. Could you let us know which version of Windows OS are you using? Please repair AVG (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Repair-AVG-Antivirus) to fix the issue.
AVG Free - opens only to a black rectangle - no menu - no data. What now?
here's what I did - click on start- then control panel - then add or remove programs, select AVG Free, click on change ( this screen has changed in the last few days and asks which components I want to install - but at the bottom is a large green button that says change - when you click change a new screen says an attempt has been made to enter a protected area, continue? yes or no. When you click yes a new screen says product successfully updated) End result - black rectangle still there and no AVG menu or access.
for the last week AVG has been using 100% of CPU for long periods - using the change program was the only way to make it quit. Is there a relationship between the new Change Program Screens and this problem?
Thanks for the help,
Joe

What do I do if I'm using Windows XP?
