AVG Free quit after last Update

Hi David,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused with AVG user interface. We certainly understand your concern and the older version can not be downloaded and install now. Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No"
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer"

After restart, run AVG Remover and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework,…).

Open AVG_Remover.exe (http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe)
User Account control - click "Yes"
Click "CONTINUE"
Select all products, and click "Remove"
Click "Restart" and restart PC
If is displayed dialog window (Open file – Security Warning) after restart, click "Run" and let AVG Remover remove traces
If is AVG Remover asking for restart PC, restart PC again.

After the last program update my AVG is totally screwed up. I can no longer access the "dashboard" or settings. A black box appears that says, "The UI failed to Load This is embarrassing. AV service is not responding"  Below are two options "EXIT" and "Restart Service" Clicking on the restart does nothing and Exit takes me back to that stupid ZEN dashboard which is totally useless.
Is there a fix or can I go back to an earlier version that does not use that ZEN garbage??
