AVG Free says "You are not protected"

I am experiencing the exact same issues after using both the AVT_Remover & avgclear. Running on version #18.8.3071 with XP as the OS. HAS THIS BEEN ISSUE EVER BEEN RESOLVED?  If I purchase the "full protection" will this be resolved?

Was this problem ever solved? I'm having the exact same issue. I've tried everything.
This is NOT an answer, I have the exact same problem described above, use clean remove, uninstalled, re-installed. Same problem Systray says "you are not protected" Click on "Fix Now" nothing. When will this be fixed?
18.5.3059 installed on XP sp3

I have tried everything you suggested but nothing has worked. I’m still seeing the warning stating that I’m not protected. See the screen shot below.  I have 3 laptops like this one that are 13.3” wide screen models. They all have Win XP with SP3 and that last updates that were available before Microsoft stopped supporting XP. I have some other nearly identical models that are 14” 4:3 ratio screens that are also windows XP with SP3, but AVG Free works perfectly on them!  They are all I have several other laptops 14” laptops with 4:3 screens that all work fine.

Tj,
Sorry to hear that the issue persists. Have you used our AVG Clear/ Remover tool to uninstall AVG?

If not, download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

1.Open tool
2.User Account control - click "Yes"
3.Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compatibility)
4.Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
5.Click "Uninstall"
6.Click "Restart computer"

After restart, run AVG Remover http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework).

Now you can proceed with the installation of AVG free version as suggested here: http://avgclick.me/InstallFree . If the issue persists, we will assist you further. Thank you!

AVG Free on one of my Windows XP SP3 laptops says "You are not protected" at the top. The FIX NOW button doesn't seem to do anything. Hovering over the computer icon on the left box says I am protected. Which is it, protected or not? Also, this product is working fine on my other two Win XP SP3  laptops. How can I fix this? I have tried the Repair option with no success. I have also tried uninstalling and re-installing AVG Free, also with no success. Is there a setting I'm overlooking in AVG Free or in my laptop?

Hello Justin,

This issue shouldn't occur with the latest version.
Do you have the latest 18.3 version of AVG Antivirus free installed?
If yes, have you tried reinstallation using AVG removal and clear tool?
