This problem started recently (within the last week I think) and I’m wondering if it is related to a Windows or AVG update.

Each time I start my computer, Win 10 Anniversary Edition, I am getting a notification from windows that both Widows Defender and AVG Free Antivirus are turned off.  When I click on the message a second screen pops up giving me the option to either turn on Windows Defender or turn on and update AVG Free Antivirus software.  I choose to turn on AVG and then get a third message that AVG has been successfully updated.

This happens every time I boot up now.  Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Thanks,
Dave Westbury

I've taken all the steps mentioned and re-installed AVG Free.  After setting up my preferences I shout down the PC and then re-booted.  So far I have not had any Windws Defender messages.

Thanks for your help.

p.s. Please advise Karthikeyan for me.

Hello Dave,
We are happy to know that you have not received any message to turn on Windows Defender or AVG. Please go to control panel and check if AVG is showing as default security program in your computer.
Thank you

Hello Dave,
Thank you for the information. AV protection is handled by another program, indicates that AVG is taken control. It will not be mentioned anywhere. However, as we can see the windows defender is disabled, the AVG program is taken control now.
Thank you.
