AVG Free suddenly blocking downloads from addons.mozilla.org

Hello Astro,
You've reached the AVG community support forum.
We are sorry to hear that your connection is getting blocked by AVG and website addon is blacklisted. We'd recommend that you submit the detected website for false-positive analysis using this link : https://www.avg.com/en-gb/false-positive-file-form#pc. Once you've submitted the false-positive report, our concerned team will analyze the detected website and if found harmless, they'll whitelist it right away. Furthermore, they'll update the status via email.
Thank you for your understanding.

I was pulling my hair out 2 weeks ago when I couldn't download any addon from https://addons.mozilla.org, thought I found the culprit, an addon that allows you to right click and copy text on websites that block copying - after I disabled it in Waterfox and Brave I could download the xpi files. Google's AI Overview has been driving me crazy for the last week so I found 3 different addons that claim to block it and tried to download them - no joy, after hours none of them downloaded, so I fired up a barebones installation of Firefox that has no addons installed, tried again, and STILL couldn't download anything from that site. Started looking for a possible solution (again) and found suggestions that my antivirus might be blocking the downloads, so I added an expert exception to AVG Free's URL exception list, and I'll be damned - all 3 browsers downloaded the addon the instant I enabled that new rule. Two weeks ago AVG was not blocking downloads from that crucial website - why is it doing it now? It's like that site was added to some AVG blacklist over the last few days - why would AVG do that? It's the ONLY place to get Firefox addons unless you're a geek and know how to use Github, but lots of addons don't have their own Github page so that's not a solution.

I just installed all 3 of the Google AI blocking addons in Watefox and none actually work, so people shouldn't bother trying them - Google is apparently monitoring those addons and changing the way their AI Overview loads, which breaks the addons - the only solution that works for now is to modify the default Google search engine URL in whatever browser you use, involves adding the term "udm14" to it - not going to write the full instructions here, OT, but search for that issue with that term in the search box and you'll find the complete way to do it.
