Hello Rick,
We are sorry to inform that this is an ongoing issue and we are aware of this. We suggest you to run the AVG update again and restart your computer. After restart please check if you are able to see the system tray icon.
Thank you.
I've got a Windows XP system that also lost the tray icon upon updating to version 7859.
Latest AVG free upgrade from ver 16.121.7858 to 7859–tray icon has disappeared–mostly on 64 bit systems—Windows 10 Pro setting show it is configured to "show" on the taskbar–problem on sewveral systems–is there a fix ?
Logs have been sent for Win 10 Pro 64bit—I previously said I had no issues on Win 7 Enterprise and Win 8.1 Enterprise but upon further review I have the issue on all 3 OS's–Win 10 Pro, Win 7 Ent, Win 8.1 Ent. Further on some of the Windows "settings" for displaying the tray icon–some have no mention of AVG–even though it is installed and showing updarted and OK–On some it show in the settings menu-but the icon shoes an "I" issue on the tray icon diosplay in settings"–in either case the tray icon does not show at all regardless of the "settiings" in Windows. All instances of AVG are up to date and working–just not displaying the tray icon properly–I had no issues with any of this in ver 7858
Hello Rick,
We are sorry to know that the issue persists. In this case we will email you a link to collect error logs from your computer. Please send those logs to AVG and we will analyse the logs and contact you back with a solution.
Thank you.

Jim,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. We apologize for the difficulties. In this case, we suggest you to perform a repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG option and check for the results. Thank you!
I've already tried this on 1/2 a dozen Win 10 Pro 64bit PC's serveral times–no go.
On Window 7 Enterprise 32 and 64 bit it appears no to be an issue.
I've now tried the "repair" option on 7 or 8 Win 10 pro installs and it does fix the issue and I've tried one "repair" on Win 7 Enterprise and it is also fixed
I did find that choosing the Windows "repair" option incontrol panel actually fixes the issue—but this is basically a reinstall–re should not have to re-install an update just to fix the issue–therwe should be a "fix" generated that does not require a full "repair"
