It looks like I am not the only one with problems, for a few months AVG has been locking up my old Acer desktop for around 20 minutes before it plonks a pop up on my screen, either telling me that my trial has expired or everyone can see what I am doing.  Most times I have had to just turn the power supply off and reboot it because it doesn't respond to anything.
On Sunday when I turned it on, the first thing I saw was a windows message that the firewall was turned off, didn't take too much notice as AVG always turns it off but then it started behaving oddly, I could open some progs but not others and it started freezing again. Everything indicated that there was an internet connection but I couldn't access it,  I had to turn it off a few times when it became unresponsive and a it then showed that there wasn't any connection to the internet.
Like one of the other posters, I went into safe mode and restored to Saturday evening before the 2017 was installed.  Similarly it didn't work because as soon as the machine started up the 2017 version instantly installed again.
I tried to uninstall AVG from the control panel but it just says that there was an error and it may be that it has already been uninstalled.  I cant download anything because it wont connect to the internet and, in any case it is now all disconnected as I resorted to spending £300 on a cheap pc yesterday which is nothing like as good as my old one and I am feeling really fed up
Any suggestions?
