Hello SG,

I understand that you are unable to complete the installation of AVG. Please click on this link to download and run the offline installer of AVG AntiVirus free:

http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_x86_1819.exe (32 bit)

Please uninstall if any other security software installed in your computer and then initiate the installation of AVG. If you face any difficulties with the installation, feel free to contact us.

New fresh install of Win 8.1 after replacing hard drive.  Windows Defender turned off and no other antivirus software installed.

Firstly AVG wouldn't install due to a general error.  It then succeeded (or so it claimed) to have installed.  I rebooted the system as asked and there was no AVG on the system. It either did not install or it removed itself.

I have now installed a different free antivirus but I would prefer to have AVG back.
