AVG - from free to paid version issues

I used the free version of AVG and decided to upgrade to the paid version. I still get a message that my subscription ends in a certain number of days. Also, I signed up for the Secure VPN option but haven't been able to get it to work. When I go to my dashboard, the only option it gives me is to sign up for the free trial or purchase the subscription (again). Am I supposed to delete the free version and re-install AVG?

Thank you for providing screenshot. It seems the issue is with the AVG Internet Security user interface.
