AVG hangs after 70% scan

I have a macbook with AVG Antivirus installed and when I run a scan it stops after 70% and having found 15 threats.  I can still navigate through the app and restart the scan (which will stop again after 70% completion) but cannot deal with the threats.  I have tried reinstalling the app but that hasn't solved the issue.

Please advise a solution…
