Thank you for the detailed information.
I would recommend you to run the AVG removal tools once as mentioned in this article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product and install AVG Internet Security Unlimited as mentioned in this article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection
Please check whether the reboot takes more time.
Hello Darren,
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Did the technician ran AVG remover tools and performed the installation of AVG Internet Security once?
This new version is absolutely terrible. Lets review whats happened so far since it auto updated.
After updating, cpu usage went to around 20% just for the 2 avg service. Each was constantly using between 10-20% cpu. After trying everything on turning things on and off, Even turning avg off, those 2 services constantly ate up cpu time. I finally get tech support on the line, they remote into my pc and start checking things. Telling me that cpu usage is "normal". It has never, ever, ever used that much cpu time sitting idle with any previous version. Finally the guy decides to uninstall avg. My machine rebooted and took 50 minutes to boot up. Guess what, every boot after that took 50 minutes to boot up.
Finally after a few weeks of this, I decided to reinstall avg internet security unlimited again. Oh look, It wants to reboot. I guess I can wait 50 minutes for it to boot again… WTH??? It booted to the log on screen in less than 1 minute. Every boot since then has been less than a minute to get to log on screen and about 5 minutes to load everything in my profile. Thats about normal.
Now when I scan, It now actually says I scanned but uh oh, we found a new issue. Every time it goes to scan for performance, It pops up a message after about 2 minutes saying that the service is playing hard to get and has quit. Please restart the service. Now, it will restart the service on its own but from that point on, it never finishes. just stuck on scanning. I been a paid user for several years and have never had this kind of problem from any of the other versions of avg.
I also went to to open the interface on a couple times and it told me the service was stopped. restarted it and it shows that its it passive mode. I tell it to fix it and it shows all is good.
Oh and get this. on the second reboot after reinstalling avg, the window for when I was letting the tech remote to me showed back up as if it was just reconnecting after a reboot. wth???
I dont want to try and get a support person again, Last time I did, my machine spent weeks taking an hour just to boot up. Im paid up till 2018 and now have a product that simply doesnt work right anymore.
Thank you for the detailed information.

oh just fyi, that last paragraph to your answer talking aboiut the 50 minute boot time was talking about a few weeks ago. Now with avg uninstalled or installed it boots normally after that initial fix of whatever it did on its first reinstall.
