AVG has made documents 'read only'

Which AVG products are installed on your PC?
Did you install or uninstall an AVG software around the time this issue started?
Or do you remember performing a particular action which might have caused this?

AVG appears to have 'protected' the drive (or perhaps My Documents folder) so that no .doc or .xls files can be changed (all are read only). I can't save to a different file name either. I've removed the 'read only' protection from the drive (using the windows settings) but it hasn't made any difference. I can save docs to another drive but I need to restore the settings so that I can save to the correct drive. How do I undue this change?
