AVG has put a block on downloading email from thunderbird

AVG blocks my Thunderbird incoming and outcoming messages oo Thunderbird. No real warning just popup box telling me that AVG had done it.  Have tried turning off email shield but no luck. I have used thunderbird for years but only had AVG 11 months. Have managed to 'see' emails in plusnet webmail but can,t read them and I know I have 1138 emails trapped! More ideas anyone?

Still no access to emails, same message telling me there are no new messages, disabled AntiVirus for the ten minute option.

The popup did not appear yesterd(7th Oct 23) nor this morning, now just get message 'there are no new messages' but webmailsite is now showing there are 1294 new messages. The first instance of problem was Sunday 1st October but didn't really take notice as had no timr but tried to get messages on Monday 2nd when message appeared again but couldn't get into messages. Tried something suggested in this area of turning off the email shield temporarily but that has not worked. Can't get screen shot of message as its gone again way too fast.

Thank you for the reply and sharing the information.
Could you please try disabling the AntiVirus temporarily and see if you are able to get emails.
Here is an article to disable AVG Antivirus temporarily: | AVG (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=disable-avg-antivirus&q=disabling&supportType=home)
Please do try it and let us know.
