AVG has totally stopped me being able to see ANY web site

I have had AVG (paid for AVG) for some time.  Then last week it appeared to upgrade itself without any instructions from me.  From that point on wards I was unable to get onto any web site.  I have now totally removed AVG from my PC and all is working fine.  I paid for the AVG protection and require either a full refund as the product is not fit for purpose or I require AVG (at no further cost to myself) to re-install the software in a format that allows me to use my PC on the internet.
