Hello Michael,
Please be informed that if AVG antivirus program is installed you will have its process running in background and also the startup icon entry will have AVG listed.
If you wish to remove AVG icon from taskbar, right click on AVG icon and select unpin the icon from taskbar.
Please let us know the version of AVG Internet Security installed on your PC.
I finallty had to do the complete uninstall/reinstall as suggested by Avinash. Bit of a pain for just a stuck unpinable icon but ok so far after a reboot. Was hoping an update could have fixed it without all this hassle, esp. as I have several nore PCs to do. Is a fix planned for this, if so I will wait before touching outher PC's

So ever since i updated to Windows 10, the AVG (CAvgTrayIcon) icon wont leave my taskbar/toolbar, it wont close, it wont close in taskmanager and I cant find any other way to get it to go away. It isnt AVG itself but a process for it called CAvgTrayIcon. Ive tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to fix it. Any help would be great
I have the same issue in WIN 7 64. The icon is on the task bar (but also exists in the tray). The icon in the taskbar will not go away no matter what I do, except for killing the application listed in my task manager. The regular icon in my tray still exists and functions normally.
Thank you for providing the screenshot. May I know if you did uninstall AVG from control panel or used Clear & remover tools to uninstall? If you did not use the tools, I would suggest you to try it once to remove traces of AVG completely and re install it. Click on the link below to download and run AVG Clear and AVG Remover tools.
