Hi, I had this problem and found some previous discussion on this forum. Comments were all around deactivating avgidsagent or removing AVG. I have been using AVG for quite a while and didn't feel comfortable with doing either. So,
I ran REPAIR on AVG from the Programs & Features section in Control Panel - this seemed to bring CPU usage back to normal. Then I ran a full disc scan using AVG and found 1 malware file - something called opencandy.
Seems likely that avgidsagent was operating correctly to protect my pc from the malware. Glad I had it!
