AVG in conflict with Time Machine? iMac freezes

Hi,

Since a few weeks I'm experiencing troubles with my Time Machine backups due to AVG AntiVirus.
Several times a day my computer freezes (beachball) when making/finishing the Time Machine Backup and all I can do was a hard reset.
After removing AVG from my iMac this freezing didn't occurred anymore. 
Is anyone familiar with this problem? And what can I, or AVG, do about this problem? 

I was very happy with AVG, but since this conflict with Time Machine not that much...
