Hi Victoria,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
AVG program would enter passive mode, if there are any other antivirus installed on your computer.
Passive mode still allows you to run scans using AVG. The only difference is the real time protection will not be available.
Please clarify whether there are any other antivirus installed on your computer. If so, please remove it & then restart the computer to check if it helps. Once, we sort this passive mode, we'll help you with the activation process.
I know this has been asked before but nothing seems to work at the moment. Husbands computer went in for a new fan and upgrade. Now trying to get the just renewed shared internet security and tune up back on his computer. It just says in passive mode for AVG. Other answers over the years say uninstall all avg incase there is an old version on there. Tried that re installed and still says in passive mode, won't accept the new renewal activation codes just says failed. A year ago we merged our accounts with avg but all seemed to be working and tune up and internet security are for up to ten devices and its only wanted on 2 devices. Can anyone help?
Thank you for updating the status, Victoria.
Glad to hear that the passive mode issue has been resolved.
Were you able to activate your AVG Internet Security after the restart?
If no, please let us know what exactly happens when you try to activate AVG Internet Security. Did you receive any particular error message?
Awaiting your response.
