It is recommended to have any one Security program to avoid conflicts. Please uninstall Avast using its Clear/ remover tool and then check with AVG protection. Passive mode should get turned off else share the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot of AVG user interface to check with it.
I have done all I can do to remove Avast and it shows to be deleted but when I open AVG it says AVG is in passive mode avast is running on your PC. I also just installed Avast with a license # and it shows I am using a free version that will expire Jan 20 2019
