AVG Initial Scan Hangs

Hi Kishore, the installation runs in safe mode up until the point where the Zen screen would be presented (where is freezes at 89%) and then i get this notification… User-added image

After that i rebooted and when windows loaded the AVG icon in the taskbar showed an error. Then when i clicked on it to open the AVG window it said that it was embarrassed, but i had to either contact support or reinstall the app.

This happens for me too. Scheduled scans keep getting stuck for an indefinite period of time on

C:\windows\System32\drivers\volmgrx.sys

It happened a month ago. I added the file to the exceptions as per the advice in this thread, it has started happening again. What gives? Am I always going to have to watch my scheduled virus scans and keep adding this file to the exceptions list, just to know that my entire hard drive gets scanned properly?

I've installed the latest AVG Free from the AVG web site. Installation went fine. One the initial first scan AVG hangs (at 50%) on the file C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\volmgrx.sys. This has nor progressed any further after 3 hours. I unstalled the AVG prorgam and ran the AVG removal tool then reinstalled AVG Free and I am having the same exact result. Any ideas, solutions?

I am having exactly the same issue on two Windows 10 machines, even after adding the file to the exceptions list. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the instructions. Unfortunately after running the Remover and attempting a reinstall, the install gets stuck at 89 percent on the Zen screen. After a reboot, windows is completely unresponsive and i can’t run the installer again, so i had to do a system restore. Is there anything else i can try?
