I have attempted to load AVG antivirus free version on desktop that runs windows 10. I keep getting installation failed, general error (0x601). I have used the AVG removal tool, restarted computer, and reinstalling AVG but still get installation failure.

 

I am frustrated and concerned I am overlooking a simple step. I have used AVG for years on other devices in the home and never had an issue.

 

Desktop with installation failure had AVG but unfortunately after most recent windows 10 update the computer got locked in a repair loop cycle. Windows 10 was reinstalled on the device. Since reinstallation of windows 10 AVG will not install.
